Connect an AI assistant to WhosBringing
WhosBringing works with AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude. Once connected, you can ask your assistant things like “what's still open on my Friendsgiving sheet?” or “show me my Meal Circles.” You sign in with your WhosBringing account, and the assistant can only see your own events — it can't change anything.
Step 1 — Copy the WhosBringing server URL
Every connection starts with this link. You'll paste it into your assistant's connector settings.
Step 2 — Add it to your assistant
Pick the assistant you use and follow its steps.
ChatGPT
- 1
Enable Developer mode: Open ChatGPT's Apps settings at chatgpt.com/#settings/Connectors/Advanced and turn on Developer mode. If you don't see it, ask a ChatGPT workspace admin to enable it.
- 2
Create the connection: Open ChatGPT's plugin creation dialog from the link below. Enter WhosBringing as the name and paste the server URL from Step 1.
- 3
Confirm and create: Review the details, check “I understand and want to continue,” and click Create. ChatGPT shows that warning for every custom connection, not just this one.
- 4
Use it: Enable the app from the chat composer, then ask ChatGPT to use it — for example, “list my WhosBringing events.”
Claude
- 1
Open the connector form: Use the link below — Claude opens its add-connector dialog with the name and URL already filled in. If it doesn't open, go to Claude's Connectors page and choose “Add custom connector,” then enter the name and paste the server URL yourself.
- 2
Add the connector: Review the details and click Add.
- 3
Use it: Enable the connector from the chat composer, then ask Claude to use it — for example, “which of my Meal Circle days are still open?”
Claude Code
One command in a terminal does it — no config files to edit.
- 1
Run the command: Paste it into a terminal on your computer and press Enter.
- 2
Confirm the connection: Start Claude Code and run /mcp to check that WhosBringing is connected. If it asks you to sign in, finish that step from the same menu.
- 3
Use it: Ask Claude Code to use it — for example, “show the potluck sheet I made for Friendsgiving.”
Other MCP-capable assistants
- 1
Open the assistant's MCP or custom connector settings.
- 2
Create a remote MCP server connection, name it WhosBringing, and paste the server URL from Step 1.
- 3
Sign in: Finish any sign-in or authorization prompts with your WhosBringing account.
- 4
Enable it, then ask your assistant to use it.
Keeping it up to date
Assistants remember the tools a server offers when they first connect. After WhosBringing adds new features, refresh the connection so your assistant picks them up. Start a new chat afterwards.
ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT's Plugins page, select WhosBringing, scroll to “Information,” and click Refresh. ChatGPT can't update a connection's URL — if the server URL above ever changes, delete the app and connect it again with the latest URL.
Claude
Open Claude's Connectors page, select WhosBringing, and refresh or update its tools. If the server URL above ever changes, remove the connector and add it again with the latest URL.
Claude Code
Start a new Claude Code session — it picks up the latest tools when it connects. If the server URL ever changes, run claude mcp remove whosbringing and run the install command again with the latest URL.
Other assistants
Open the assistant's MCP or connector settings, select the WhosBringing connection, and refresh its tool list or reconnect it. If the URL changed, paste the latest one from above.
